SRI Chat - Socially Responsible Investing
Subject: Re: Low minimum initial investment?

Try TIAA-CREF's Social Choice Equity fund. It's a large-cap SRI offering with only a $250.oo minimum initial investment requirement. The fund also has very low total expenses (unlike Domini, Citizens, etc.) 0.26% And unlike Domini, Citizens and the other SRI funds, there are no NEFARIOUS 12b1 fees to eat away at your investment returns. In many respects the 12b1 fees are worse than initial or back-end sales loads. In my opinion SRI funds have no business charging excessive fees. Domini, Citizens, etc. will soon lose business to TIAA-CREF and Vanguard because of their high fees. After all, is it socially responsible to "gouge" investors with these outrageous fees? Any comments?
