Parents of Peter Schulze, a resident at Four Winds, feel the community offers their son tremendous opportunity to have a purposeful and spiritual life. “Peter is disabled but also a young adult...We want for Peter most of the same things we want for his older sister, Ana, who is not disabled. Have we found all these things at Four Winds Community? Absolutely!”
Thanks to financial support from RSF’s investors, RSF was able to provide the additional financing Four Winds needed for a new and improved home.
Four Winds Community, located in southern NH, is a life sharing initiative where people with developmental disabilities can meet life’s challenges in an atmosphere of love and support. In keeping with Rudolf Steiner’s philosophy, life at Four Winds is built upon the recognition of each individual’s spiritual wholeness and an appreciation for each person’s ability to contribute.
The organization accomplishes the goal of developing each resident’s full potential by building confidence and responsibility through meaningful participation in the necessary practical work-life of the community; developing aptitudes and capacities through social and life-skills training; and broadening horizons and perceptions through comprehensive vocational training, artistic experiences, and cultural enrichment. The focus at Four Winds is not on disability—it is on capability.
“I was glad that we could provide this longstanding client with financing. After a fire destroyed two of Four Winds’ buildings, they needed additional financing to rebuild. The insurance settlement was delayed and insufficient, and Four Winds needed a quick loan to start construction. Four Winds is a tremendous example of RSF’s ideals” says Steve Brunn, Senior Loan Associate at RSF. Paul Martin, co-Founder of Four Winds agrees, “RSF is unique in its philosophical understanding and support of our mission and work.”
