A capacity crowd of prospective homebuyers attended Carver State Bank’s First-time Homebuyers’ Seminar on Saturday, June 24, 2006. This seminar was co-sponsored by the Neighborhood Improvement Association (NIA) and the Community Housing Services Agency (CHSA) of the City of Savannah.
The speakers included Doris Thomas of Doris Thomas Realty, Inc.; Sylvester Ginn of Carver State Bank; Graylan Quarterman of G.Q. Inspection; Attorney Bonzo Reddick of Bonzo Reddick Law Office; Marion Hales of Total Credit Repair; Harold Jenkins of Allstate Insurance; Darrel Daise of CHSA; and Edward Chisolm of NIA. Sherrie Williams of Carver State Bank served as the coordinator and moderator for this event. She was assisted by Mary Bynum and Othia Saussy, also of Carver State Bank.
The sessions began promptly at 9:00 a.m. with Mrs. Williams welcoming the future homebuyers. Carver State Bank President, Robert E. James, discussed the importance of the bank offering the first-time homebuyers’ seminars and the benefits of homeownership. Each speaker was outstanding and provided information on different areas of the home buying process. At the conclusion of the seminar, the participants were awarded homebuyer education workshop certificates.
Georgia Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor, a candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor, State Senator Regina Thomas and State Representative Bob Bryant were among the distinguished public officials who attended the seminar to encourage the prospective omebuyers.
At the conclusion of the seminar, Mrs. Williams acknowledged Home Depot, Kroger, LongHorn Steakhouse, and Jake Williams Hair Center for donating door prizes for this community development initiative.
