Chris and Dawyna Carson and their 3 children were able to move out of public housing and into a recently purchased a 3-bedroom cooperative in Stamford with the assistance of the Stamford Housing Authority, the City of Stamford, and HDF’s Adopt-A-House Program (AAH). As first time homebuyers, they attended Homebuyer Education classes offered by AAH and also received one-on-one individual counseling, which includes a review of the applicant’s credit and debt, financial literacy training, and a step-by-step look at the process of purchasing a home. The Carsons got their first mortgage from the Bank of New York.
