Shaikha, an ambitious micro-entrepreneur mother from Jerash, Jordan, suffered for many years from several financial crises, which made her & her husband unable to keep up with the basic demands of their lives. But this did not stop her from dreaming of a better life.
Shaikha started her long journey by cleaning, packaging & selling Cereal of all sorts.
When first Shaikha heard of Microfund for Women, she felt that it could be the means through which she could fulfill her dream of increasing her family’s income and overcoming the financial crisis they faced. She therefore applied for a 300 JDs loan (equivalent to 423 USD) to start another income-generating project of producing and selling dairy products.
As time passed, Shaikha established other projects to better deal with her difficult financial situation. These led to an improvement in her life conditions, and she was able to support her son while he finished his high school education and continued on to university study. She also secured the needs of her other children and family, in addition to paying the bills and decorating her house.
“My ambition is big,” Shaikha said, “it is to raise my children, have a better life, and improve my business through the services provided by Microfund For Women. My dreams will never end!”
