CHF International

CHF International is an international nongovernmental organization incorporated in the State of New Jersey and based out of Silver Spring, Maryland, that serves as a catalyst for long-lasting positive change in low and moderate-income communities around the world, helping them to improve their social, economic, and environmental conditions. CHF International currently works in over 30 countries around the world.

CHF International programs can be grouped into five key practice areas: Emergency Response and Transition; Urban Development and Infrastructure; Democracy and Governance; Economic Development and Development Finance; and Health.
CHF's Development Finance programming is demand-driven. A unique strength of our approach is the flexibility of our lending models to meet the varying needs of the people we serve. Rather than follow one mold, we design programs in a broad range of socioeconomic and political settings, including post-disaster and post-conflict, and we use a variety of methodologies and partners to provide financial services to those who have little or no access. Our work ranges from housing loans to low-income Maquila workers in northern Mexico, to partnerships with commercial banks that extend microfinance services across the Middle East, to Small- and Medium-Enterprise lending that contributes to job creation and economic development in Liberia.
CHF International has the proven capacity to design, implement, and oversee effective financial and entrepreneurship linkages. We manage over twenty major programs around the world, providing technical assistance to micro-, small- and medium-enterprises and linking them to competitive markets.

Client Population

CHF International's global programs serve vulnerable populations that are otherwise not served or underserved. With that focus CHF works in conflict areas, post-disaster communities, developing economies, and transitional countries. Our clients include internally displaced families, low-income communities, conflicting tribes, families affected by HIV/AIDS, men, women, children, youth, and the elderly. In addition to un-/underserved households, CHF’s Development Finance portfolio also serves micro- small- and medium-sized businesses, and does some middle market lending to larger institutions that can spur broader economic growth in the countries where they operate.
